HP Hotkey Filter is a small Windows driver/utility designed for HP notebook PCs. It manages special keyboard shortcuts (Fn keys and dedicated hotkeys) so hardware controls—such as screen brightness, volume, wireless/airplane mode, touchpad toggle, and display switching—work consistently across Windows. The driver filters specific key combinations and relays them to the operating system and related HP components, which can also provide on-screen notifications. It runs quietly in the background and has no standalone user interface. Removing it can disable some function keys, so it’s generally best to keep it installed and update it after major Windows upgrades or a clean OS reinstall. It is not required on non-HP systems.
HP Hotkey Filter is developed by HP Inc.. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 1.4 and 1.5.
